Spirit Unbroken
Alice and Rick Garlock will appear at the NW Book Festival on August 7th. The festival will be held in Pioneer Courthouse Square. You can learn about the festival here .

Mike Reiss will read
King Snozzle of Snozz at the New York Public Library’s Children’s Center at 42nd Street.
King Snozzle of Snozz was published this February to the fanfare of big-nosed trumpets. When King Snozzle the Eighth must marry, his countrymen urge him to pick a snooty, large-snouted duchess. Will the king instead choose the sweet and clever commoner as his bride?

Henry Alley, author of Precincts of Light, will be a guest on the NPR KLCC radio station’s show Northwest Passage on Thursday, June 3rd, from 4 to 4:30 PM. He will also appear on DiversiTV, local Eugene program on Comcast Channel 23, with host Mark Harris from Lane Community College to discuss the coming out process in the novel.
Alley will also sign books at two different events in Eugene, Oregon. He will be at Art in the Vineyard on the Fourth of July, and at the Lane County Fair on August 22.

The Sunday Oregonian recognized the pun-tastic King Snozzle of Snozz in the April 24th edition. Reviewer Helen Babbitt writes that
Sometimes a kid just needs to laugh with a funny book. Mike Reiss, who writes for “The Simpsons,” understands that perfectly, shining light on enormous noses in King Snozzle of Snozz.
Mike Reiss will visit Portland later this week, and he has several events that are open to the public:
• Talk for Writers: April 29th at the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne at 7 PM.
• Reading: Thinker Toys in Multnomah Village at 11 AM on May 1st.

Stephanie Snowe, author of Meeting Mr. Wrong: The Romantic Misadventures of a Southern Belle, will be a presenter at the 2010 South Kentucky Book Fest on April 17, 2010. She will be part of the “Baring It All” presentation panel.
Stephanie is also running a workshop called “Memoir Writing: Pulling your pants down in traffic” for the Kentucky Writers Conference.

There’s a new literary venue in town, and two Inkwater Press authors will be the first to kick off its series of author readings.
Jeremy Benjamin, author of the short story collection, If I Catch You Reading This, will appear at The Clearing Café on Sept. 13. Benjamin, an actor and member of the Portland Fiction Project, writes stories that range from the supernatural to science fiction to absurdist humor.
S.W. Capps will read from his novel, Salmon Run, on Sept. 27 at The Clearing Café. His novel follows the journey of Woodrow Salmon, who loses everything after his wife’s attempt to have him killed goes awry.
Both readings will take place from 4-6 p.m. at The Clearing Café, 2772 NW Thurman St. in Portland.

Eileen McVety, author of Welcome to the Company (or what it’s really like working here), will share tips and tongue-in-cheek wisdom from her book Saturday, Aug. 8, at 8 a.m. Pacific Time in an interview with Barry Eva of “A Book and a Chat” on BlogTalkRadio.
